WELCOME
Thanks for visiting my website. If you're interested in improving your performance in sport or business, you can contact me at patrick@performancelabs.ie or on twitter at @PMC_17. Below I have briefly described my three areas of interest.

MY RESEARCH
‍‍
Resilience is critical to performance in sport and business. My research focuses on how to build resilience in high performing teams.

CORPORATE TRAINING
I work with four clients annually; KPMG, Deloitte, PWC and Ernst & Young. I combine my academic interests with practical experience to develop sessions aimed at solving specific issues surrounding corporate performance. Since 2019, I have presented to over 5,000 people both in person and remote.

SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY
I expect to achieve my sports psychology accreditation with the Irish Institute of Sport by 2023. As part of this process, I work at a group and individual level with a range of teams as a performance coach.

my principles

Performance

24/7

Psychology can play a pivotal role in high performance environments. I work with a range of people from business and sport to tackle the issues they face.

Resilience

in mind

Resilience development is critical to performance in sport and business. My research focuses on how to develop resilience in a high performance environment.

Business

experience

I have worked in a family business, as an audit associate with KPMG and at an Irish led start-up in the Philippines which raised a $26m funding round while I worked there.

Sport

constantly

As well as pursuing my sports psychology accreditation, I am interested in a range of sports. I'm interested or currently playing golf (9 handicap), soccer and GAA. I help out at my local GAA club Na Piarsaigh.

biography

THE BEGINNING
I began a business studies degree while working in a family business. It was interesting to compare the theory from lectures to the reality of day to day operations.

2013

A STEEP LEARNING CURVE
I joined KPMG as an audit associate and completed my 3.5 year training contract to qualify as a chartered accountant.

I was part of and led audit teams working on companies ranging in size from small local charities to listed companies on international stock exchanges. I completed the professional accountancy exams and learned an extensive amount in a short period.

2017

A SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM
I moved to the Philippines to help an Irish led start-up called First Circle navigate their initial start-up period. I spent two years in Manila and led the finance department while helping our team raise a $26m funding round.

I was responsible for overseeing the Finance Department of the business. I led all financial planning and management while working closely with the executive team in handling business, operational, financial decision making and risk mitigation.

2019

FOLLOWING MY PASSION
‍‍
I left Manila to complete a masters in sports, exercise and performance psychology. During this period I began presenting to corporate clients in the areas of mindset, resilience, goal setting and performing under pressure. Since 2019 I have presented to over 5,000 people.

NOW

A TIMELESS INTEREST
I believe that psychological skill development will be as common as learning to cycle a bike in the future. At the end of my four years, I plan to design a resilience based intervention to equip managers with the skillset to develop resilience in themselves and their teams. My research will look at both sport and business domains.
